The Summer Solstice arrived this year in shades of gold.
For this Art Card, I painted a radiant sun face surrounded by warm oranges, pinks and metallic gold. A tiny gem at the third eye, giving the piece something of a small shrine quality. It feels celebratory, abundant and unapologetically bright.
As I worked on it, I kept thinking about the phrase feeling gold.
Not in the sense of being successful, productive or polished, but in the sense of allowing ourselves to occupy the centre of our own lives occasionally. To stop orbiting everyone else’s needs, expectations and stories and simply bask, for a moment, in our own warmth.
The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year. The sun is at its fullest expression before slowly beginning its return towards autumn. It feels like an invitation to notice what is flourishing, what is bringing joy, and what deserves to continue receiving our energy.
This card became a reminder that there is nothing wrong with taking up space.
Wearing the sparkly thing.
Adding the extra jewel.
Making the bright, slightly over-the-top artwork simply because it delights us.
Standing in our own light for a while.
Intention
To stand comfortably in my own light and celebrate what is already flourishing.
Practice
Notice what feels joyful, energising and abundant. Spend time there. Allow yourself to shine without apology.
