For the past few months I have been working on a new collection of wearable textile art called Curious Adornments.
Inspired by folklore, nature, wild gardens and the creatures that capture my imagination, this first collection features a gathering of owls, hares and bees. Each piece has been created by hand in my Leicestershire garden studio using layers of fabric, free-motion embroidery, hand stitching, beads, sequins and found treasures.
No two pieces are ever the same. Every necklace begins as a collection of scraps, sketches and ideas before slowly evolving into a character with its own personality and story. Along the way they acquire embellishments, tiny details and a little bit of magic.
The collection includes the Moon Hare, Sun Owl, Dawn Hare, Twilight Owl, Midnight Owl, Sunlit Bee and Dusk Bee, each accompanied by a story card inspired by folklore and the natural world.
As someone who has always loved textiles, theatre, storytelling and making things by hand, creating these pieces feels like bringing together many of the creative threads that have run through my life. They sit somewhere between jewellery, folk art, textile sculpture and tiny wearable talismans.
The first Curious Adornments collection is now available in my Folksy shop. As each piece is completely unique, once it has found a new home it will not be repeated in exactly the same form again.

Thank you for following along with my creative adventures and supporting handmade work.
